Welcome Address

Dear Colleagues,

The International Congress on Complications in Interventional Radiology (ICCIR) is coordinated by the CIRSE Foundation. Acknowledged as one of the most beneficial developments since ICCIRs inception in 2000, ICCIR 2010 saw the handing over of the reins to CIRSE and the successful integration of its sessions into the teachings of the European School of Interventional Radiology (ESIR).

The congress focuses on case presentations and case reports - the essence of the meeting - which regularly foster the liveliest of case study discussions. The high scientific level is maintained by a distinguished faculty consisting of renowned interventional radiologists, as well as experts from our partner disciplines.

The popularity and the increased awareness of this, quite unique, meeting within the European IR community have increased the attendance to a remarkable 200 participants – more than we had ever imagined!

In the year 2012 the spirit of the meeting will be carried forward by the CIRSE Foundation. Once again we will create an open forum for the discussion of complications with the added value that young doctors can learn and profit from the experience of their elder colleagues in a structured and meaningful way.

We look forward to seeing you in Poertschach, Austria in June 2012.
